The first ten minutes are not friendly. Assam oud is barnyard and smoke, and we have not sanded that off — saffron and pink pepper sit on top of it, sharp and dry.
Then it turns. By the second hour the rose absolute comes forward and the oud stops shouting, and what is left is warm resinous wood that sits close to the skin. Sandalwood and ambergris hold it there until you wash it off.
One dab on each wrist. This is not a fragrance you reapply.
